The first service came and went a week or so ago.
Around 19,000 miles. Got a replacement Audi A3 1.4T for the day.
There must be a car replacement pecking order. The A8 owners get an A6. The A6 owners get an A4 and the A4 owners get an A3. I wonder what the A3 owners get. The A3 1.4T s-line.. felt a bit dated. We had a 2004 A3 and the car hasn't changed much. The engine was quiet but gutless.. fuel economy wasn't too bad though.
The car was returned nice and clean - inside and out. Nothing to report other than un-even tyre wear on the fronts. The centres were worn more - too higher tyre pressure apparently ?? They will need changing in a few thousand miles. However not too bad - since that will be 22,000 miles.

Service Indicator
I have been following the service status via the main screen on the dashboard, it seems to move by 100mile increments.. after you have switched off the ignition..
for the first time it is now coming up on the small central screen behind the steering wheel when you switch on the engine.. 1800miles to service. I suppose this will now continue, I wonder if the message will change. It's quite a long notice !
Difference between the Mercedes C Class and this Audi, is that the Audi can run for a longer chronological time if the mileage is low.. still something like 450days and the car is 9months old already.. however the Mercedes needs to be done every year - even with low mileage..

I am still running the Audi and it hasn't missed a beat in the 9 months from new.. close to 16,000 miles - so the first oil change and service is coming up..
It is good to contrast it to my wife's new car, which is a C Class Mercedes. I am a bit jealous of the Mercedes, try to have a few sneaky drives of it. I am blogging it like the Audi, here..

euroncap site
What a great site, I just found the Euroncap site -http://www.euroncap.com/home.aspxHave a look at the tests, the videos are brilliant and really brings it home on what can happen in a big crash. They now have pole tests which is pretty horific for head injuries. I was looking at the Ford Focus and noticed that the airbags were powerful enough to break the windscreen.

53 MPG
Continues to sip the fuel.. my cross country commute can be done at around 44-45mpg, and my trips to London are always low 50's.. which is impressive.
Combined with the lower fuel price, using a shell mastercard and drivers club, has made a massive difference to my monthly costs.. compared to this time last year it's probably £300per month. I don't know how I afforded the Volvo XC70.
